I decided to start this blog to document the details of my sons' lives. My oldest son, Griffin, is 2. His brother, who we call "Atticus Finch", will be arriving sometime around December 2nd. We haven't settled on a name yet, so Atticus it is for now.
I continue to work at my job as a special education teacher and my husband, Eric, works as a second grade teacher (no thanks!). Work is becoming increasingly more difficult because Atticus is becoming heavier every day! I can feel him moving around frequently and I often see my stomach morphing into weird shapes here and there as he does his acrobatics. I'm excited to meet him, but nervous at the same time. I wonder how I'll be able to love another child as much as I love Griffin. Is that even possible? Then I feel like a horrible mother for having such thoughts! Anyway, I've been told that you kind of grow another heart for your second child and I hope that's true.
Today I stayed home from work because I was struggling with my asthma, yet again. I've had a cold for the past week or so, which is always a trigger. When Griffin came home from daycare, he gave me a big hug and kiss, which I always look forward to. He sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" to Atticus and also "burped" my belly. He likes to pat my tummy and then makes a burping sound...it's so funny! When he went to bed, he kissed my belly button to say goodnight. I always feel so amazed to look at how big he's gotten and it's so hard to imagine how he could have acquired language so quickly!! Today he said, in a whole sentence, "Mommy, can I have goldfish please?" Last year at this time, I think he was saying a few very basic words like "ball" and "mommy" and "daddy". It's strange to think of holding another tiny baby soon.
Hopefully, I'll be off to work again tomorrow...
